Paul Kabuswe Outlines Govt Geological Mapping Drive to Unlock Investment Opportunities

Zambia Expands Nationwide Geological Mapping to Unlock Mineral Investment and Boost Infrastructure Development

Former Minister of Mines and Minerals Development Paul Kabuswe says government is intensifying geological mapping activities across various parts of Zambia as part of efforts to identify new mineral resources and attract investment.

Mr Kabuswe explained that the initiative is being implemented in regions including Western Province, where detailed surveys are expected to support future exploration and development of mineral-based projects.

He noted that the geological mapping programme is intended to provide accurate data that can guide both public and private sector investment decisions, while also supporting infrastructure development such as roads and airports in potential growth areas, including tourism-linked zones like Liuwa National Park.

According to Mr Kabuswe, improved geological information will help unlock new economic opportunities, strengthen resource planning, and enhance Zambia’s long-term development prospects through better utilization of its natural endowment.

He further stated that the ongoing work forms part of broader national efforts to position the country as an attractive destination for mining and related investments by improving the availability and quality of geological data.
